Game Highlights -Day 1

The 2023 Kentucky State Little League Baseball Tournament got underway at Cardinal Run Park in Lexington. After the first set of games were completed the rain came delayed the games for six hours. Bluegrass Little League field crew was able to get the fields ready and complete the rest of Saturday schedule.

8-10 Year Olds
Morehead 6 - Paintsville 4
Morehead overcame 4-0 deficit to Paintsville and scored two runs in the fifth inning to win 6-4.
For Morehead, Case Triplett(2), Duke Armstrong, Zaiden Ward and Easton Charles had base hits
Duke Armstrong pitched three scoreless innings in getting the win. For Paintsville, Jude Caldwell had a double and a single. Braylen Hammonds(2), Luke Stratton and Branson Spears(2) had base hits.
Daviess County 12 - North Oldham 5
Daviess County scored seven times in the fourth inning to secure 12-5 win over North Oldham. For Daviess County, Luke Abbott, Jayden Bickett, Bryer Stone, JP Hedges Collin Swope and Kaden Knott had base hits. Jake Watkins picked up the win with three innings of work on the hill. For North Oldham, Luke Jacobson(2), Brantley Wise, Seth Roberts, Evan Fisher, Levi Moore, Lee Williams and Ben Bush had base hits.
Eastern 24 - Bluegrass 0
Eastern scored in every inning to beat Bluegrass 24-0. For Eastern, Banks Denton had a double, two singles and had five rbi’s. Tate Martin had a double and a single with four Rbi’s.Pitchers Mason Martinkovic, Cooper Hayden and Cas Pogrotsky combined for the shutout. For Bluegrass,Kohen Lear had a base hit.
North Laurel 12 - Washington County 2
In the nightcap, North Laurel finished 12-2 game with a eight run fifth inning over Washington County. For North Laurel, Enrique Campos had two doubles and 3 rbi’s. Brody Burgess(3),Lake Woodyard, Hunter Warren, Cooper Whitis(2), mason Woods, Gabe Gilliam(2) and Jase Prince had base hits. Tucker Parman added a double. Kayson Mattingly(2) and Ryan Baker had base hits.

9-11 Year Olds
Eastern 12 Bluegrass 1
Eastern put ten runs on the board in te second inning as they defeated Bluegrass 12-1. For Eastern, Tanner Smith had a double. Harbour McCauley , Banks Wilkinson, and Anthony Bruggeman each had two Rbi’s. Pitchers Hank Watts and Banks Wilkinson combined for the no hitter.
Adair County 12 - Fleming County 10
The scoreboard stayed busy as Adiar County defeated Fleming County 12-10. For Adair County. Hunter Ballot had a double. Daniel Held(2), James Fees, Hayden Ford, Bennett McGaha, Bentley Petty and Lundon Moore had base hits. For Fleming County, Teagan Taylor had a double. Kase Hunt and Brantley Stamm each had two hits and 3 rbi’s.
North Oldham 16 - Paintsville 1
North Oldham had 11 run third inning to beat Paintsville 16-1. For North Oldham, Aided Riley had two hits and 3 rbi's and Casey Main had two hits and two rbi's. Nathan Hoffman, Dawson Burckardt, Max West, Henry Stratton, Jackson Edgar, Brady Bottorff, Brady Noe and Nolan Stethen had base hits. Brady Noe and Nolan Stethen allowed one run and had five strikeouts . For Paintsville, Cameron Blair, Haiden Blackburn and Cooper O’Bryan had base hits.

Bowling Green East 14 - Corbin 2
A seven run Fifth inning helped Bowling Green East beat Corbin 14-2. For Bowling Green East, Wyatt Scott, Brannon Davis and Jake Young had triples. Asa Buchanan added a double. Brady Boyd pitched three scoreless innings in picking up the win. For Corbin, Silas Black, Gatlin Godsey and Jett Hendrickson had base hits.

10-12 year Olds
Warren County South 13 - North Oldham 0
Warren County cross the plate nine time in the fourth inning as they beat North Oldham 13-0. For Warren County South, Easton Shank had a three run home run in the fourth inning and a single.Will Roberts had a double and a single. Max Lobb and Nate Oliver each had two hits. Max Lobb and Easton Shank combined for the shutout. For North Oldham, Cayenne Rankin and Landen Nelson had base hits.
Bluegrass 9 - Fleming County 5
Bluegrass rally back with a six run fifth inning to beat Fleming County 9-5. For Bluegrass,Micah Hughes(3), Diego Vaquera and Bryce Johnson(2) had base hits. Matthew Smith had a double and a single. For Fleming County, Camden Price and Josh Doyle had base hits.
Eastern 7 - Washington County 0
Five Eastern Pitchers combined to shutout Washington County 7-0. For Eastern, Rodes McCullough(2), Eli Scott(2), John Cooper Sawyer and Matt Scharlman collected base hits. For Washington County, Kaden Wright and Bairon Saucedon had base hits.
South Central Floyd 5 - North Laurel 2
To finish off the night and the long day South Central Floyd defeated North Laurel 5-2. BJ Gibson had a double and a single. Colton West added a double. Quin Harlow, Cash Haley, Maddox Howard,Rylan Hall and Eli Strong(2) had base hits. For North Laurel, Kyran Barnes had a double. Marshall Mastin(2), Avery Greer and Kolton Hampton had base hits.
