State Tournament Day 5
After a lot of rain on Tuesday night and early morning on Wednesday, the Championship games were delayed until 1:00pm when the fields were ready to go with some exciting Championship Games.
10 Year Olds
The 10 year Championship needed  eight innings to get a champion as Morehead came out on top as Michael Strobel singled to rightfield for the game winning hit to beat Daviess County 4-3.  For Morehead, Barrett Vance base hit tied the score 3-3 in the eighth inning. Cole Stiltner had a two run double in the fifth inning among is three hits for the day.  Sawyer Stevens and Case Triplett(3) and Adhton Fay had base hits. Duke Armstrong and Sawyer Stevens combined for 10 strikeouts with stevens picking up the win. Zaiden ward had a diving catch in centerfield. For Daviess County, Jaxen Bickett(2), Collin Swope(2), Luke Abbott(2) Jake Watkins, Carson Ashby, JP Hedges, Kaden Knott, Luke Howe and Bennett Mason had base hits.  Pitcher Owen Gaynor pitched five strong innings allowing two runs and four hits.

11 Year Olds
Eastern erased 3-0 deficit as they scored five runs in the fifth inning as they defeated Adair County 5-3 for the State Championship.  For Eastern, Kingston Hudspeth had a homerun and was the game winning pitcher. Cash Johnson added a double. Graham Duncan, Tanner Smith, Banks Wilkinson, and Tanner Smith had base hits. For Adair County, Hunter Ballou had a single and two Rbi’s. Kaden Jackson(2),Bentley Petty, jarred Hughes and James Feese had base hits.

12 year Olds
Eastern scored three runs in the second and third inning on their way to a 7-2 win over Warren County South to win the Little League State Championship.  For Eastern, Parker Oakley ad two run double. Matt Schlman had two doubles. Eli Scott(2), Henry Warner, Jack Clickner and Benjamin Warner had base hits. Jack Clickner pitched 3 plus innings allowing five hits and two runs and getting six strikeouts in getting the win.  John Cooper Sawyer pitched two plus scoreless  innings and ad three strikeouts. For Warren County South, Will Roberts had a double and a single. Jacob Whalen added a double. Wyatt Watson and Thomas Fentress had base hits.

Eastern will advance to Indianapolis for Central Regional .

Another state tournament came to an end congratulations to the winners, the two Eastern teams and Morehead. Hats off to the host of the 2023 State Tournament, District Administrator of District 3 Bill Harp , Bluegrass Little League and their president Nathan Lowe and to their field crew and everyone that helped get the fields ready through all the rain we had the last five days.  Another excellent job by the State Umpire-in-Chief Brad Cherry and his excellent staff of umpires.   Hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and hope to see you next year in District 4 for the 2024 state Tournament.
